International media intelligence company Meltwater acquired Klarity with an aim to better harness data from major Chinese social media platforms like WeChat and Sina Weibo. Originally a member of the NDN group, Klarity is Meltwater’s first investment in an Asia-focused business, which is also referred to by the latter as the strongest social media analytics company in the region.
Meltwater has 60 offices around the world, including a headquarters in San Francisco, and offices in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai. Its major customers include Maxim’s Caterers and food company Lee Kum Kee International, as well as China Mobile, Tencent, China Union Pay and e-commerce giant Alibaba.
